Each year there are 20-25 books nominated for the SC Book of the Year. ONLY students are invited to vote. There are four categories and each category has an intended audience. They are as follows:
Picture Book Nominees – Kindergarten through 2nd Grade
Chidrens Book Nominees – 3rd Grade – 6th Grade
Junior Book Nominees – 6th Grade – 8th Grade
Young Adult – High School Grades 9-12
Middle School students (typically from schools with grade 6-8) have a broader selection of books to choose from, and can aprticipate in either or both book elections. All that is required to vote is that a student read no less than 3 titles from the slected lists. The books fro the current school year (2007-2008) are listed below:
